Song playing in my head when I woke up:
"Fireball XL-5" as performed by Jesus Couldn't Drum

###################

Dreamed something about Alan Hale, Jr. (Skipper from Gilligan's Island) and then Bob Denver (Gilligan). Weird. Denver was standing at a podium speaking – dressed as Gilligan – and I remember trying to see if gray hair was showing under his hat. (It seems that every time he did a guest appearance on a tv show after Gilligan's Island had ended, they never bothered to color his hair – which had gone gray – and it always destroyed the illusion.)

I'm sure glad my dream time isn't wasted.

Song playing in my head when I woke up:
"How Can I Be Sure" by the Rascals

###################

We recently watched Daredevil and Joe Dirt in the same day and I ask you: How is it possible that Joe Dirt was the better of the two?! It should've been the other way around!

In Daredevil, Ben Affleck was awful. All character development was awful. The exploitation of the Elektra character was awful (a hot property – but well-developed character – in the comics turned into a bland seat-filler for the movie). The melodrama was unbearable. I was annoyed by the obligatory Stan Lee cameo. Also, his costume was leather, for Christ's sake. How did he just change into it when he was out and about? If it wasn't for me wanting to tough it out in vain hope, we would've stopped the movie about halfway through.

In Joe Dirt, on the other hand, David Spade was much better than I expected and I thought the script was funny. Funnier than Old School, if you want some kind of comparison. He actually seemed to tone down for a character other than that Weekend Update guy he seems to enjoy doing so much.

I never imagined I'd be saying it, but Joe Dirt's better than Daredevil, hands down.

Song playing in my head when I woke up:
"Fuck Her Gently" by Tenacious D
and I can't get it out of my head. Somebody help me, please!

I was in San Antonio last weekend and found out that, according to the street preacher across from the Alamo, the reason men who wear their hair long do so is because they want to be women. Huh. I had no idea.

Okay, so I guess I should still post here from time to time. Lots of stuff has happened in the last month or so that's kept me busy (both my mom and Annette went in to the hospital, a trip to Ft. Worth, our computer broke and had to be fixed, etc.). Everything's more or less back on track now (and I finally got a job!), but you're still more likely to find my posts on the Poopsheet blogs, though. Still, check in here every now and again.

While over in an unfamiliar part of Austin a couple of Sundays ago, I spied Junior's Comics & Games, a shop I hadn't been to, so we stopped to check it out. Because she hates when it happens, Annette jokingly asked me if this was their gaming day. Well, of course, we soon found out that it was. The place was a tiny, narrow, sorry excuse for a comic shop. Once we opened the door, we noticed three things: (1) that the place was literally packed with people and gaming tables that left no walkways, (2) that the comics were way in the back, and (3) the muscular guy in the wife-beater behind the counter. I started a half-assed attempt to get through the people to the back (while Annette stayed by the front door), then decided it wasn't worth it.

So that's my experience with Junior's. My advice: stay away. If anyone can give me a reason why I should give it another chance, I'm all ears.

Here's the subject line from a piece of spam I got today:
"Crazy! Only dollar and Nothing but PUSSY!"

Well, I guess you get what you pay for.
